June Update

Month of the summer solstice. And hot dogs!

Hello and happy summer!

We’ve had a great month here at Coastal Measures — new connections, new hires, new sensor deployments, and new dashboards.

The Spotter comes to CUMULUS

The Atlantic Resiliency Innovation Institute (ARII) deployed a Spotter wave buoy off the coast of Marshfield, MA, and is utilizing CUMULUS to make the data publicly available. And now that the Spotter is fully integrated into CUMULUS, any partner can hook their Spotter up in a few seconds! Or maybe you’d like to see data from an area with no buoy? You can sponsor a sensor buoy! We’ll take care of all the logistics of getting it in the water and will put your name or organization on the buoy dashboard, just like ARII! Shoot us a message if you are interested!

Say hello to Om and Ilishaa

We were lucky enough to have 2 amazing interns join our team this month.

Om Bhadiyadra, working with Coastal Measures through the Bridge to Bluetech program, is a Computer Science graduate student at UMass Dartmouth who specializes in building cloud‑native, big‑data pipelines and machine‑learning tools. He said he was “drawn to Coastal Measures’ mission of delivering robust, open data infrastructure that empowers coastal communities and the broader blue economy.” He is excited to support the mission by translating cutting-edge research into practical, scalable solutions for ocean health stewardship.

Ilishaa Nerker, working with Coastal Measures through the Climate Tech Incubator at the Roux Institute, is a rising junior at Wellesley College majoring in Computer Science and is fascinated by the intersection of technology, creativity, and communication.  She was “interested in Coastal Measures because their solution lies in a unique domain” and said she was “excited to help understand the competitive landscape and storytelling possibilities.” As she finishes school, Ilishaa is exploring roles in product management, human-computer interaction, media, and digital journalism.

We are thrilled to have both of them on board and know they have extremely bright futures ahead.
