October at Coastal Measures
The waters may be cooling but we are just heating up

Michael Cahill of the Town of Plymouth throws in a Spotter Buoy with the ARII team that now streams data real-time to CUMULUS.
Happy October
Since our last update, 3 new buoys are in the water streaming to CUMULUS through a collaboration with ARII, Humberston (CEO) spoke on panels at the Blue Future Conference in Plymouth, MA, and at the Blue & You — Ports & Sea Level Rise meeting at Save the Bay in RI, gave a talk at the Blue Economy Investment Summit in Portland, ME, and advisor, Nadir Ait-Laoussine, spoke for Coastal Measures at the Newport Investor Summit in RI. We also received over $300k in Grant Funding for new projects, including a major expansion to our agentic AI capabilities for data querying and analytics. CUMULUS v3.1.2 is live with granular or public data sharing and improved sensor integration. Not a bad month, all things considered!
Coastal Measures & Bill Nye at Blue Futures

Sharing our work with others is part of the job, and a big part of it this month. At the Blue Futures conference, Humberston spoke on the Partnership panel to discuss how local in-situ data support resilience decision-making in Plymouth. At the Blue Economy Investment Summit, Humerston pitched Coastal Measures’ CUMULUS platform to a passionate group of investors, scientists, and ocean advocates. At the Blue and You — Ports and Sea Level Rise panel event, Newport This Week captured Humberston's strong statement,
“Collecting localized data is essential for proper planning. You can’t really forecast critical storm events without that kind of data…We’ve seen the damage that has happened in other coastal areas when planning was not based on local data.”
At the Newport Investor Summit, Coastal Measures’ advisor, Nadir Ait-Laoussine gave a compelling pitch on why CUMULUS is the next wave in Ocean Intelligence to a large group of interested investors.
Sofar Oceans - A Partnership Making Waves
As part of the tight collaboration with ARII, Dr. Humberston will discuss the valuable role real-time, localized coastal data plays in building more resilient communities at the next Sofar Oceans Webinar on November 13th. He will share how local communities like Marshfield, MA, not only improve their unique understanding of risk factors, but also deliver real-time insight to coastal industries, including fishers, aquaculture operators, mariners, insurance, and home owners.
